What coaching costs

There are only two things you ever pay for when you book coaching on Careering: a chemistry call, and a block of sessions. You pay for each at checkout, and there is nothing added on top.

The chemistry call: £30

A chemistry call is 30 minutes for £30, and it is £30 whichever coach you choose. You can have one with each coach, so you can meet two or three people before you decide.

If you go on to book a block with that same coach, the £30 comes off your first block with them. So if you know who you want, the call costs you nothing in the end.

Blocks of sessions

After that, coaching is booked in blocks of 3, 6 or 10 sessions. Each coach sets their own prices, so there is no single Careering price list. What you can expect:

• A block of 3 is the smallest, and every coach offers one. Across the coaches on Careering today, a block of 3 runs from around £325 to around £840.
• A block of 6 is offered by nearly every coach, from around £620 upwards.
• A block of 10 is offered by a few coaches.

Per session, that works out at a little over £100 at the lower end and up to around £240 at the higher end. Most coaches sit between £100 and £150 a session. Blocks of 6 and 10 are sometimes a little cheaper per session than a block of 3, and a longer session costs more than a shorter one.

Coaches price their own work, so treat these as a guide rather than a quote. The figures on a coach's profile are the ones that count.

Seeing what a coach charges

Every coach's own prices are in the booking panel on their profile, next to the times they have free. You will see each block they offer, how many sessions it contains, how long each session is, and the price of the whole block. That price is what you pay.

In the coach directory you can also:

• Filter by price, using the bands Under £100, £100 to £149, £150 to £199, and £200 and over. The bands are measured per session, worked out from the coach's cheapest block.
• Sort by price, low to high or high to low.

We do not print a price on the cards in the directory. A single figure there would be the price of one session, and a session on its own is not something you can buy, so it would tell you less than it seems to. Open a profile to see the real prices.

What the price includes

• Every session in the block, whichever coach you choose.
• Moving or cancelling a session for free, up to 48 hours before it starts. Moving or cancelling a session
